The Chevrolet Camaro Yenko Turbo Z is one of the rarest cars you will ever find from the storied performance breed

So that’s why it’s impressive to find this 1980 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Yenko Tribute that gives you the right look and a loaded A/C interior, but won’t cost you the same as a house. And with the upgraded V8 power, it also drives like a proper performance-enhanced car, too.

We love the look of this car. The white paint has the right look where it is clean, complete, and glossy. But it has the right attitude of aged-in imperfection that may have some people mistake this tribute car for a real-deal survivor. Plus, the white makes for a nice contrast to the blacked-out grille, headlight covers, and rear panel. And the same high-contrast awareness goes for the special Yenko decal package in the doors and rear. The special Yenko chin spoiler, color-matched N90 alloy wheels, power dome hood, and Z/28 rear spoiler all make for a sporty package. Best of all, you know you have a great story to tell. Only those in the know, understand what it takes to get a tribute that looks this good. But since there were only likely 19 original Turbo Z cars, many people don’t know the whole story. Still, since we all respect the Yenko name, so there’s little doubt there are going to be plenty of people asking you all about this distinct coupe.

The factory-correct Oyster White and gray interior is quite complementary to the exterior colors, and so this one has a nice uniform look inside and out. Nicely-bolstered bucket seats, an armrest center console, and cruise control make this a nice place to spend some time. Plus, there are terrific upgrades, like cold-blowing R134a air conditioning and an AM/FM/CD stereo with USB input so you can do everything from have modern tunes to powering up your phone. These Camaros are built to be true driver’s machines, and that’s why you have the driver-focused dash with large speedo and tach. Plus, these Z/28s have the special feel of the corded steering wheel.

Don Yenko and company need a turbocharger to overcome the regulations of the time, but today we know how to unleash the right kind of performance in other ways. So while this is believed to be the original block, there was a big investment around 2008 to really upgrade the power. This includes an upgraded camshaft, Holley four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock Performer EPS intake, and long tube headers that add power while contributing to the thunder of the dual exhaust. And the TH350 three-speed automatic transmission was rebuilt by B&M to add stout performance. It creates the kind of power package that lets this Z-car live up to its Yenko style. This is also easy to cruse thanks to power steering, power brakes w/discs up front, and sway bars front & rear.

The sale comes complete with the factory buildsheet, owner’s manual, and maintenance records. This is the cool Yenko tribute that has the power and poise to live up to the legend.
