This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS Tribute makes all the right first impressions for an instantly attractive classic

So with its awesome color combo, houndstooth interior, and proper small block power, you know you’re looking at something quite special.

The trim tag tells us Garnet Red is this car’s original color, and you can instantly tell it has been updated later in life by the way it retains a glowing gloss today. It gives this coupe a quality look that’s reinforced by the fundamentals like the straightness of the panels, good gaps, and the way the doors close with confidence. And the bright shine of the bumpers goes well with the upgraded 18-inch Torq Thrust wheels. The combination of painted white racing stripes and white vinyl roof give you a well-coordinated look that drives home the ideas of both premium and performance. Plus, the decal pinstripe package is a coordinating white piece that emphasizes the distinct body creases of the ’69 Camaro. This is an X-11 code coupe, which could be a factory SS (but never confirms it.) So it’s great to see this one with terrific Super Sport details, like the cowl induction hood, deep chin spoiler, SS badging, and full-width rear spoiler. And of course, we bet you instantly recognized the upgrade to an iconic Rally Sport hidden headlight front end.

The exterior has the best upgrades of the first-gen Camaros, and the interior does, too. It starts with the black interior featuring houndstooth cloth inserts, and the trim tag says it was born this way. They really took their time with the details on this one, from the wood-like trim to the wide headrests. Even the dome lights work on this well-prepared classic. So you’ll be happy to leave the windows rolled down and show the full package off to the world. You’ll also appreciate how this is a great driver’s car. That means bucket seats up front with a clean center console in-between. There’s also an upgraded Chevy sports steering wheel, clear gauges, and a horseshoe shifter.

The 350 cubic-inch V8 is nicely presented with the bright Chevrolet air grabber, matching valve covers, and an overall tidy style. It’s upgraded to inhale deeper with Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and an Edelbrock intake. And the dual exhaust with MagnaFlow mufflers will make the kind of sweet tune you’ll love. Because this is a coupe that’s made for driving, you have features that make it easy to enjoy, like a three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes. Plus, those upgraded wheels mean you get to fit modern performance tires.
