The heart of this car is a 1998 Camaro LS1 V8, and the all-aluminum engine does wonders for the early Camaro’s handling. Expertly installed by Marc Byers right here in Fort Worth, it features a full Painless Wiring conversion harness so everything works like it should with no cutting and splicing that can hurt reliability. It’s been painted Chevy corporate orange so it has an old-school look and the firewall has been smoothed to showcase the modern engine. Corvette coil covers are a popular upgrade for all LS1 engines, and this one also features a big aluminum radiator with integral cooler for the 4L60E 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission. Wilwood supplied the master cylinder, which acts on upgraded front disc brakes and a Detroit Speed & Engineering A-arm front suspension improves handling and gives the car that awesome rake. A custom-built Moser 12-bolt rear end is stuffed full of 3.73 gears, so feel free to stomp on it because the hardware can take it. Twin Flowmasters offer a remarkable sound behind the LS1 engine, and the staggered 17- and 18-inchTorque Thrust wheels are traditional yet modern with a custom offset out back to eliminate the need for tubs.
