This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS Tribute is a recently restored coupe.

It gives you vivid red paint, four-on-the-floor, and an impressive small block under the hood. It makes for a head-turning coupe with head-snapping power.

A vivid Red Camaro is always appealing, but you can really see a quality difference here. It was given a professional clearcoat respray that’s ready to drive out of our showroom and right onto a show field. The full brightwork package, including the wraparound chrome bumpers, also make sure that this is the kind of coupe that you can own with pride. But the reason why a ’69 Camaro is such an icon is because we know these can be speedy machines. And so this upgraded car also upgrades its attitude. You get the factory-style SS pieces, like the cowl hood, blackout grille, front air dam, full badging, and D80 rear spoiler. Plus, you not only have the larger 15-inch Rally wheels, but also the stance is done for some added intimidation. The lowered front gives it a proper leaning-in look, and the extra meaty rear tires remind you where the power meets the pavement.

The black interior looks good against the red, especially with the quality of the components. The upholstery, carpeting, weather-stripping, dash, and the rest of the fundamentals were given the right attention to keep this feeling great. And you’ll appreciate details, like the button-top seatbacks and the headrests in the front bucket seats. You also can feel this one was built for driving with the upgraded NK4 steering wheel, auxiliary gauge trio, and Hurst floor shifter.

Under the hood is a clean presentation that reminds you the whole car was included in the recent restoration. This is a Chevy 400 cubic-inch V8, and we love it when these motors are built right, because you get big block displacement in a small block weight. So they made the right investments here for a terrific power package. It was bored .030 to 406ci total. Then it was built with Dart heads, an aluminum dual plane intake, HEI ignition, and topped with a Holley four-barrel carburetor. And the long tube headers add to both the power and rumble. Plus, with both the lobe of the cam and the Flowmaster mufflers, this loves to make a deep and aggressive tune out of the dual exhaust. The four-speed manual transmission keeps the full power and thunder under your firm control. And the power steering, modern tires, and power brakes w/discs up front are all there to give you confidence on the road.
