This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro does its Yenko tribute right with a big 512ci V8 under the hood and four-on-the-floor.
But more than just big power, you’re going to love this one because it’s a fresh build with only about 500 miles on it since completion, and you get to enjoy it all from the A/C interior.
The gold paint sets the tone for a classic that has both a premium and flashy feel. The finish has the right look where the sunshine loves to radiate off the body and showcase the sharper edge styling that was exclusive to the ’69 Camaro. And if this wasn’t already memorable enough, the well-coordinated black package shows off all the best intimidating pieces. It includes the blackout front grille w/spoiler, the Yenko hood decal that accentuates the cowl hood, and the full-length Yenko S/C stripes are thicker in the rear to help emphasize the stance that comes from the larger rear tires. But don’t forget that this car has a premium side, too. So you get a great-looking black vinyl roof with your blackout package. And that quality feeling is also in the details everywhere from the tight door seals to the shine of the chrome bumpers.
For the same reason why we love the black accents against the gold body, you’re going to love the full black interior. You can tell they invested nicely to make sure the carpeting, dash, upholstery, headliner, and the other fundamentals give you a feeling of quality. Not only is it a more upper-class look, but also they took time to keep it quite vintage. That’s why the bucket seats have the correct sYc graphics on their headrests, and even the Delco AM radio is still there for display. And when they upgraded to R134a air conditioning, they still used the factory controls. So just like a Yenko car, any visible upgrades were more about a better driver’s setup. You have Chevy’s classic dual-spoke sports steering wheel, a full auxiliary gauge trio, and a large upgraded Autogage tach. That last one goes especially well with the Hurst Floor shifter to let you take full advantage of the monster under the hood.
The engine bay is filled with big block power. Just like the rest of the car, there’s a very clean look that reminds you there’s only about 500 miles on the whole build. Of course, you’re going to love this for far more than its tidiness. It is a big 512 cubic-inch V8 that has added performance with a DART high-rise intake, and topped with a four-barrel carburetor. There are the right supporting components, too, like the MSD 6AL ignition, HD plug wires, front runner belt system, and steel braided lines all the way back to the fuel cell in the trunk. The long tube headers add even more power while also contributing to the rumble of the H-pipe dual exhaust. The four-speed manual transmission gives you firm control over the big block power. There are stout components to get this power to the pavement, like a 12-bolt rear end and traction bars. And power brakes w/discs up front and wide performance tires are all part of a solid driving package.
